Introducing Smacka Batch

The future is on fire for Mississippi Hip Hop star and musical entrepreneur Smacka Batch, whose break-through albums and supercharged live performances have earned widespread acclaim and an ever-expanding base of devoted fans. The latest stop on his supersonic journey through life is a new album, 80’s Baby Boomer, containing the hit single, I Just Wanna Talk 2 U, featuring Recognition.

Since his debut album in 2005 – Got Who? Got Smack – Smacka Batch has rocketed to the top of the Mississippi Hip Hop scene. In 2009, he became a three-time winner of the Male Hip Hop Artist of the Year title during the Jackson Music Awards (2006, 2007, 2009). He was also named Grinder of the Year by Yazoo City’s Club 3 in 2006. Released in 2007, Smacka Batch’s second full-length album, Live from the Plantation, featured a multi-talented ensemble of musicians and recording artists from Smacka Batch’s original label, Southern Plantation Records.

Judging from the reaction of fans and critics, their hard work and creativity paid off. In addition to being named Male Hip Hop Artist of the Year in 2007, Southern Plantation won the title National Group of the Year as Live from the Plantation took the South by storm. The album sold more than 10,000 units and propelled Smacka Batch to the forefront of the fiercely competitive regional Hip Hop scene. Further boosting the band’s brand, Smacka Batch gained endorsements from world-renowned megasports game machine EA Sports and has hosted a number of popular mixtapes marketed on the EA Sports label.

So, how did Smacka Batch – born Shadrach Banks in humble Farmhaven, Miss. – make it all happen? Banks gives credit to his positive vision, strengthened by faith in God and an abiding love of music as a language that transcends. Smackabatch crafts his songs and messages passionately, blending metaphor and reality in a rapid-fire delivery that cuts straight to the truth. “I want my music to do more than just entertain,” he said. “I also see myself as a teacher. I want to make people think about things and see what’s important in life. I talk about consequences in my music and the need for people to be responsible for their own actions.”

Smacka Batch started refining his musical talents as founder and leader of The Misfit Mafia in 1999. The band established a reputation across Mississippi as an ambitious rap and hip-hop force, and the experience gave him the confidence he needed to branch out in 2004 as a solo artist. He still maintains close bonds with former bandmates and features two of them – Twylyte Da Bandit and J-Blade – on his own albums.

The group has also announced a US tour in support of their new album, “Armed To The Teeth”, alongside Big B, Common Market and Bliss N Eso.

“We’re excited to hit the road and share these songs with fans,” says Madchild. “It’s been a long time since we’ve done a headlining US tour and now we can finally play a full Swollen Members set for fans .”

Swollen Members are currently gearing up for the release of their new studio album “Armed To The Teeth” which lands in stores October 13th, 2009 through Suburban Noize Records and Battle Axe Records. The album is a snapshot of the trials and tribulations the group endured during the past two years, including Mad Child’s battle with drug addiction, the collapse of their former record label and the legal troubles that plagued the group throughout the recording process. A-Mess was born on September 14, 1990 in Hoboken, New Jersey and raised by his mother in Union City, New Jersey , part of Hudson County. As a young child music has always been around everywhere he went and everything he did. At the age of 12 he noticed what was really his dream but this dream holds a mission and tons of success in store for “A-Mess”. Years went by and his talent just kept growing until it was finally time to show someone what the young artist had in store. At 15 years of age he decided to start recording his own records for the mean while he had a small home studio in his bed room which helped him start off his career. Early in the year 2007 was when “A-Mess” started showing his song’s and talent to others and became a better artist when the love was shown by many. As 2007 was on the way and ending A-Mess knew he needed a hand to drive him to improvement. As he spoke to early opportunities came for the young artist as he met producer “Sisco” a young producer from Union City, New Jersey. Then “A-Mess” and producer “Sisco” started working in the "Most Wanted Entertainment Studio" for the first time and finish their first project called “So Fresh So Fly” which was his hit single loved by a lot of people but never released. As he kept doing music his hunger and love for music grew so much that it became powerful and tremendous now. In the beginning of the year 2008 ”A-Mess” released his first professional record called “Throwback 90’s” which now brought “A-Mess” out to his home town “Union City, New Jersey”. The record quickly took over “Union City, New Jersey” and now had hundreds of people asking who’s “A-Mess”. He noticed the record was earning fans and listeners in different state’s across the world. A few more records then were release such as “FiYaa” & “Too Fast”. After that his mission has started now magazine’s, interviews, shows, A&R’s,etc started heading his way as his music quickly took off further across the globe. The year of 2008 was an outstanding year for him, now he has his home town“Union City, New Jersey” behind him and thousands of people across the world even in the "United Kingdom" & Other Countries. In 2009 he release a record called "Shake it" and it went over 60,000 real plays crowning him one of the best & biggest artist to ever come out of “Union City, New Jersey”. Not having the support from his family "A-Mess" has been able to achieve and accomplish so much leading him in the direction of his dream becoming reality.
